Description

Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs/ Tourism Development (HCOCHA/TD) offers funding support for approved sports in education programming for the school year beginning November 10th, 2025, through April 10th 2026. This grant is administered by the HCOCHA/TD, a unit of Hudson County government, by authority of Hudson County Executive Craig Guy and the Hudson County Board of County Commissioners.

The Sports in Education Program will provide funds to non-profit sports organizations that will give sports instruction and education to students at participating schools in the county. The development of a program has begun for the 2025/2026 school year by connecting local organizations with Hudson County School districts. The organizations will provide integrated and aligned physical curriculum of the schools. Coaches will work closely with the educators in the schools to enhance not only physical but learning opportunities and embed the grades 3-12 programs into standard curriculum.

The vision for the 2025/26 school year is to create a platform for which the Hudson County Schools may apply for programming through the Hudson County Office. In the long run the program will increase all students’ access and knowledge to sports integration education within Hudson County and partnership will increase opportunities for furthering extracurricular sports activities.

2025-2026 Program Structure

  • 18 Weeks / 2 hours per week per school (minimum)
  • 2 hours a week per school would be focused on a combination of Youth Sports Training, Sports Education, Nutrition and Wellness.
  • Workshops will also be included to supplement the programming by Youth Sports Educators
  • After school, In-School, and hybrid programming available

Schools and/or Schools Districts selected will work with Prime Athletic Development and various professional specialists over the duration of the program. They will be leading the curriculum of sports training and workshops for the students.

About Prime Athletic Development

Prime aims to provide specialized training programs to young athletes, helping them enhance their skills and reach their full potential in their respective sports. Our training programs will be tailored to different age groups and skill levels, ensuring that each participant receives the appropriate guidance and support to excel in their chosen sport. Through our structured and comprehensive training sessions, we will focus on developing key athletic attributes such as speed, agility, strength, and endurance.

Additionally, our programs will incorporate sports-specific drills and exercises to improve technique, decision making, and game IQ. By offering high-quality coaching and a positive learning environment, we aim to foster not only physical development but also important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Our goal is to become a trusted and preferred destination for youth sports training in the community, cultivating a love for sports and helping young athletes build a strong foundation for their athletic journey

  • Basic Training for Running Technique - Unfortunately, over 60% of children who try out for a sports team fail to flourish due to the fact they were never taught basic fundamentals of running. From an early age they've lacked confidence due to their inability to score a touchdown, make a basket, or swing a bat. Studies have shown this can be a snowball effect into adulthood and in the workplace.
  • Basic Strength Training - Our certified coaching staff provides a profound strength program, which intrigues the youth to keep coming back for more! Our theory is light weights and controlled movement. This method has been battletested to improve performance and help reduce the chance of injury.
  • Dynamic Warm-Ups - Prime installs a sense of health at a younger age. On how many occasions do we see the youth perform stretches before recess or play time? Nearly never! Our staff dives deep into teaching the youth the importance of warming up properly and avoiding injuries.
  • Conditioning - The environment in which training occurs needs to be proactive.; fundamental motor skill development must be taught, coached, and assessed. We recognize that during conditioning, children will feel like they've reached their limit. However, this is where good coaching and mentorship gets involved. We have a healthy balance of challenging our athletes to finish strong, but push them in a safe manner. The conditioning service is the most crucial component we provide to develop mentally strong youth athletes.
